...which just makes the comparison to Luddites more apt. It's not about hating technology in general, it's about hating technology that might cut into your income stream. Just in this case it's folks who thought their work was safe from being automated like some factory worker finding out that no, a significant part of their work could in fact be automated and that the same general approach is happening - people looking at existing processes and outputs in an attempt to imitate them with a machine.
Any time you buy a mass produced product instead of paying ten times as much for someone to hand make one for you using basic hand tools you are using (or paying to have used on your behalf) technology that replaces workers, you just don't care as much because it's the wrong kind of workers.
