It's likely to the extent fully automated trucks use the tractor trailer model they will couple and uncouple themselves. With humans at the stops and refueling/recharging points preforming pre, post and mid trip inspections. Some parts of the industry will like be more resistant to automation, for instance flatbed, but in the end the faster, cheaper, safer freight robots have to offer will win out.
