A quick though experiment. Let’s say I tell you in the next year you will meet a con artist. I give you 2 options:
1: The con artist has an IQ of 80
2: The con artist has an intellict of Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, or Da Vinci, and is more eloquent with the English language than any writer that’s every lived, has seen everything you’ve typed on the internet, knows every secret you have and has seen every picture you’ve every taken.
Which would you be more worried about, option 1 or option 2?
I say this as an AI optimist. I welcome AGI, for a number of philosophical reasons, and I don’t believe it will kill us all, in the same way I don’t want to kill all the squirrels in my backyard, in fact I like the squirrels, but it definitely will be able to.
