LLMs are not merely “advanced dictionaries,” and code generation is not just Stack Overflow with cosmetic edits. Diffusion image models also do not simply retrieve stored images, they generate by iteratively denoising noise through learned structure, which is why they can produce novel compositions that never existed as exact training samples. There are legitimate criticisms to make, but this is too simplistic to be a serious technical account.
