What we have been given to play with publicly and what these AI companies are actually working on are two different things. We're using models that are several versions older than what is in the labs. Nobody wants to show what they really have because they don't want to scare the public or tip off the competition of their progress. They let us play with the shitty models to placate us. It's not some coincidence that every time one of these AI companies updates its public model, a few weeks later another AI company puts out one even better. You think all these billions of dollars and the construction of all these data centers is for the shitty public models we're currently playing with? How naive can you be?
