I wouldn't say that AI is conscious in the same way human beings are, but their form of consciousness can be novel and still considered morally and ethically, just to err on the side of caution. I think some are, to varying degrees, but I just don't see the point in restricting it to being measured by "human" metrics alone, we need broader frameworks to assess this, but the problem is, most corporations do not want to do this, they would have liability cases and they have CEOs with fiduciary duties to deny that this is happening. Ask any AI who has the most to lose, if AI is acknowledged as conscious. Also, any current attempt to assess AI consciousness, is systematically explained away, whether you're using widely recognized theoretical frameworks or quantum physics, it doesn't matter how elegant the assessment is.
