If proper legal protections for artists were passed, these AI generators would be much lower quality because they wouldn’t have permission to train it on such large datasets as they do now, or they would be higher quality but artists would be properly compensated, which means they wouldn’t have to rely on commissions. In both case scenarios, artists would have an income source regardless of whether the AI output is better.
