Yes, quite well actually. It does not recognize HER face, and why that is is very interesting. The datasets that train AI are biased and that has real-world consequences. It's not likely an intentional bias - there are simply more photos of white males than of females or POCs - so the AIs learn to differentiate white males more easily. AND the problem goes way beyond facial recognition ...
...think about the automated sorting of resumes and security risk checking. YOU may lose out on a job or mortgage because of a pattern the AIs detect, and you cannot appeal. Maybe people who wear the sort of hat you have been photographed wearing committed a violent crime, so you get tagged with the calculation "somewhat more likely to commit violent crime" which is totally unfair but you will never know. Like it?
