@mashygreen6974 I can’t see AI being an extinction level event for humans without it having an ability to physically alter the world. I can think of some things (say nukes) it could take control of and cause our extinction but that seems like it would also be harmful to its own existence, which I assume it wants. I would’ve loved a discussion about that aspect.
One thing though in reference to humans as ants: as a species, I think we are much more vulnerable than ants. So many of the extinctions in the past have been of extremely niche organisms or frequently those organisms that came to dominate their environment. Creatures at the top of the food chain seem to be incredibly vulnerable to catastrophic changes to their environment and the introduction of new species that out-compete them.
