You don't really need AI, in the sense of a large language model, to have your computer/phone read a novel out loud. The technology to do that has been around for decades. New speech synthesis software might be able to read out loud with more appropriate intonation. Personally though, I prefer listening to an emotionless computer voice instead of one which tries to sound human, but which uses inappropriate intonation sometimes.
