@ You're under the assumption that to be an artist you need, and I'm quoting you here, "enough talent and thousands of hours of investment" That is what someone who's trying to sell you a class or a book wants you to believe will make an artist. What really makes an artist is one thing. and that is 'the process'. Someone who has only picked up a paintbrush for the first time, spent 15 minutes moving paint around on a piece of paper has more of a right to call themselves an artist than someone who used AI to make a picture, regardless of how either work came out, because you can ask that newbie painter "Why did you choose these colors?" or "Why did you put that brush stroke here?" and maybe the painting will look ugly but they'll be able to answer those questions because everything about that painting came as a deliberate choice from the artist. Meanwhile, if you asked the one who used AI those questions, they wouldn't be able to answer them. They had a vague idea and skipped the process completely to get the end result. How can someone call themselves a writer if they didn't even pick the words? Isn't picking the words the bare minimum? How can someone call themselves a musician if they didn't even choose the notes that went into their own music piece? And maybe if AI was only drawing from the public domain, then we could discuss "Coexistence" but as long as making AI "Art" involves taking pieces from existing artwork without it's original creator's permission, than there is no hope of getting along.
