For humans, art a way of expressing oneself, having fun and being creative. Art is really more about the process of making it, learning from your mistakes and learning to make even better art.
AI makes the process of creation meaningless, because it's all about the final result. Generating an image with AI doesn't teach the AI user anything about doing art. There's no value in the art if you didn't practise at all to achieve the result you wanted. What makes it so great to do art, is the failure. Because after failing a hundred times, finally succeeding feels like the best thing ever. I think AI makes the failures unneeded, thus making the sweet feeling of success unneeded as well. I don't think many AI users have ever thought "Wow, I just wrote a great prompt", as proudly as an artist who, after spending hours of practice, manages to make a painting they're happy with.
AI doesn't create. It takes hundreds of artworks by hundreds of different artists (without consent!) and puts them together. Calling that stolen image "art" is an insult to artists, who have spent their whole lives refining their artstyle, and who have made the art as an expression of themselves. It's like, if you wrote a novel that you, for example, based on your experiences struggling with a mental illness in an attempt to reach out to those, who are struggling from the same thing, and then someone took all the exact events and names, and wrote a fantasy novel about it. You poured your heart out to the world, and someone just made a cheap parody about it, because they thought it could make a good plot for their book. You'd probably feel like your work wasn't appreciated, right? That your life experiences and struggles are being discredited, right? Right? Well, artists often, in one way or another, pour their experiences out onto a canvas in the form of a painting. And AI is using those works just to amalgamate them together with other paintings. AI doesn't UNDERSTAND your work like a human being would. AI doesn't appreciate the process of making the art, it doesn't appreciate the meaning, it doesn't even appreciate what it looks like. It just poorly copies the art, just for the AI "artist", to call it their own.
I might've worded some parts poorly, because I have so many thoughts about this subject that they're difficult to compose coherently, but those basically the most important reasons I personally don't like AI generated art.
