@shredandspin AI is certainly an efficiency tool. I don't necessarily think the intent is to take over all thinking/creative, though it will do quite a lot of that, displacing humans from many tasks. I'd say thats the fringe of its usefulness.
I view AI as most used in analysis of large data sets quickly; what comes to mind is pattern recognition and threat identification in cybersecurity/national security, industrial applications to make basic preprogrammed decisions quickly, enhancing automation that already exists, business/market analysis, intelligence gathering, and making mathematical predictions for things like weather, traffic patterns, space debris calculations, air traffic control, logistics, macroeconomic analysis, and maybe even forecasting geopolitical events such as war, famine, pandemics, etc. Maybe I'm overly optimistic, or in denial, but I see AI as a value-add to things we already have, requiring fewer people to do the same result.
Some jobs go buh-bye, but it will be interesting to see what fields open up as a result.
