It's all of the above. Plus two other things.
1 - there's no reason to think AI won't eventually have increasingly direct physical access to the world (through robotics or nanotech or synthetic biology or something we can't even imagine)
2 - a rogue AI is unlikely to do anything to make us want to unplug it until such time as we no longer have the ability to do so (and it no longer has any use for us).
