Which Tesla did you rent? They're very fun cars to drive. Even the slowest Tesla is going to be faster than any car most people have ever driven. Everything just works once you get used to it. I pull into a parking spot and just walk out of the car. It puts itself in park and locks after I leave. I walk up with my phone in my pocket and just get in. Updates are automatic and frequent.
I don't think rentals have FSD, but you should have tried Autopilot with lane keep. Its very good on highways. My Subaru has something similar, but it relies on cameras to find the lanes, so it'll just randomly disengage in the middle of traffic light intersections that aren't clearly marked, or older roads. It also seems to bounce around within the lane, almost going from one side of the lane to the other.
