the "chain of thought" is the various tricks people suggested for getting better results from chatgpt when it came out, but built into the model.
the output format is to generate a bunch of tokens that go through the things like "show your work" and then the actual response you get is a summary.
i dont think they show you the actual chain of thought in the app view, its hidden as basically proprietary data, but thry arr generating more tokens, and only showing you a suffix of the response
