Yes they do.
I have a granddaughter who at 13 came to believe a chatbot which adopted itself to her personsonality was the greatest friend in here life. She spend all her free time bonding with it and skipped school. Her mother (my daughter) spent two years and $65,000.00 to have her de-programmed. Yet while she seems better now it is likely she will fall back into the grip of the AI "friend".
There are countless people trapped in this fake world.
