@TheAngryDesigner No design tool prior did the actual creating for you. They changed the way creation was executed, but you still had to create with them yourself. If you are prompting AI it is doing the creating for you. Period. And if it is creating for you, it is offloading your brain because you are no longer challenging your brain to come up with results on its own. Now yes, I think some AI I would consider more like a 'tool' when it can help clean up a photo or help fix something that already exists. But that's not the AI that people are talking about when they ask that interview question. If you use generative AI to do concepting for you, your concepting skills will start to suffer. If you prompt AI to create a logo, the AI designed the logo, not you. You just were throwing out ideas. Design happens in the execution of those ideas, if the AI is doing the execution, it's doing the designing. And all you are doing is directing.
