I mean no, the reality is the "stolen work" argument is a red herring. It may not be intentionally but at the end of the day if these AIs were trained solely on public domain work and then trained up via art that the rights were bought or individually submitted to it. People would still have a huge problem with AI art since there is the fear of automation in a sector that once believed it couldn't be automated, it was always seen as the last place we will see machines take over but that is unfortunately not the case it seems. So artists are fighting against this since it is basically looking at the end of a career path which sucks but I think this mostly comes down to commercialization and capitalism. Like in a world where art is only a passion that one follows this wouldn't be a concern, sure there would have been gatekeeping but there is always gatekeeping, it has happened with many forms of art (digital being one of the more recent ones) but now people have to wonder how the hell are they going to put food on the table if they are relying on these skills. To the money men, why pay for 100s of veteran artists if you can pay 10 juniors and have them use these programs do the other work once its done or just have a few select leads basically do the whole project themselves and cutting out the juniors in the process leading to the question of how will junior artists gain experience if these jobs are the most likely to be cut for profits. These tools are fascinating but in the world that is run on the mighty dollar the effects on the workforce may be pretty catastrophic. With this also likely happening to other jobs like tech support, transportation, etc.
