I'm not sure they are lying, but they're extremely unreliable either way. I don't follow Altman closely but Musk is obviously a delusional person who loves the idea of being the world's main character. Sure, he thinks AI could cause the apocalypse. He also believes in about 7 other coming apocalypses.
