You're mixing things up in an effort to win an argument, and that won't work with me. People don't have any right to be paid over and over again for the same labor... Hell, there isn't even an expectation of getting paid for labor if you aren't an employee... Copyright is a privilege granted by society. Society is entirely within its rights to alter the deal at any time. If society decides that training AI is more beneficial to it than absurdly long time frames and levels of control over ideas... which it should, because it is... then there's nothing to be done about it. No person's want for profit is more important that the future of humanity. I get my news from all kinds of sources. Can't trust any of them, you have to listen to all of them and draw your own conclusions. I wasn't at all referencing any kind of journalist... citizen or corporate. Again... I was referencing creative works. Reporting and journalism are not a creative works in the same sense. A valuable service, yes... but almost 100% of that value comes from work and facts, not creativity. Creativity in journalism is why it's so untrustworthy. It's the equivalent of AI hallucinations. I still don't get how that relates to people who had doors opened for them being the only ones creating things... are you assuming that the only people that give things away for free are nepo babies? If OpenAI is scraping behind paywalls... That's a violation of the CFAA over unauthorized access to a protected system... and that's a criminal case, let alone a civil case. This is a very specific case in which I would agree what they are doing is wrong and violates not just copyright because it was never published publicly... but again... the computer fraud and abuse act.
