Let's put it this way, the AI generated content now is insanely put together and very well done, because it was based off data that was stolen off artists that have in fact, spent lots of time. I'm not good at explaining but sadly it's similar to this. People RT and commission art that are very well drawn instead of a new artist who is still studying, and draws like stickman level of artwork. No one would pay attention to artwork that a very new amateur artist has pushed out. So it's clear that the AI people are cherry picking the best of the best or the really good ones to make their data. And how do you get to a stage of becoming very good in art? Effort, time and investment. I agree that not a lot of time has to go into an art to be copyrighted, but the ones that they ARE stealing are the ones that did require a lot of effort time and studying from others. And like you said, every human is influenced by art they have seen. Artists are no different. But the difference between AI users and Artist is that Artist break down the artwork to its core, the components and study them. AI user instead just put in words and prompts. They don't break down the process and the skills of the Art they wish to create. I'm not actually 100% against AI, I think it's wonderful as a learning tool. But I just really wonder, if they would like to call themselves Artist. Why do they not pick up the brush, or a camera, or a microphone to learn, and try? Why do they wish to create digital art without understanding the basics of art that have continued since ancient times and even now are still taught. Why do they wish to create a photograph of a place, yet they aren't interested in going down there and experiencing it themselves and taking a photo of it with a lens? Why do they wish to create music, yet don't wish to learn about scores, tempos, and everything that makes up a music component? It baffles me
