Your example is incredibly flawed and makes zero sense, because paint is *made for making art*, artists are not drawing just for people to use it to train AI. Also, blatantly stealing/downloading an artist's work to train an AI without even asking permission to do so would still be copyright infringement, especially when the artist has explicitly told them not to. The artists aren't even getting anything in return for their art being stolen, which is worsened by the fact that some AI "artists" are profiting off of people's stolen artwork.
And let's use your paint example again, but within the actual context of what's happening. It's like if someone was to buy a bunch of a paint company's paint, then combine it into a thick sludge, and then sell it as their own product. That would be considered stealing, and that's what's happening to artists.
TLDR: your argument is dumb and is comparing completely different things.
