Just accept reality. We (the human society) have been defeated by greed.
Self inflicted trauma that leads to terminal conditions is our thing it seems.
And you really don't want AI(like the nukes) to fall on bad people's hands.
Governments (that we have at least some control over them,namely our vote) can regulate AI corporations (provided there is no corruption-since we can vote for "clean" politicians).
I m not so sure how you can feel safer if AI is freely developed by bad actors who's target is to replace governments with the rule of the jungle.
I not saying governments/regulations are by default good.
But they are our best bet,a bet we have ways to influence (with participation).
