Do you really think people are pondering about hidden meanings in a 2D side scroller RPG when they see the background?
Do you really think people analyze promotional material of a game or brand and debate what the color palette means for hours?
Also even if that were the case: An A.I artist can precisely do the same thing and provide creativity to the A.I by telling it to place certain things into the image or make it look a certain way.
A.I in that case is literally just a magical brush, which paints the picture according to your wishes.
