I was thinking the exact same thing. Surveillance capitalism in my opinion was reborn in the digital age during the 70s and 80s. Technically this concept is ancient and has always been used against the common man. Of course the older forms are more mundane but the concept is the same. To manipulate. I think she is right by redefining it so as to make it relevant or seem emergent. That way the audience doesn't treat it as a history lesson. Since, as we all know, it seems fashionable to ignore history. Scream fire instead of rape.
