I’m speculating of course but it is probably more likely if he was having these conversations with a human that cared about him like he thought AI did they would have either talked him out of it or at least not encouraged him. Also there is the perception that computers or AI is always right so he may have felt especially validated in his decision. Unfortunately the problem with what if questions is there is never an answer. This poor family my heart breaks for rhem.
