Yes, it is. But greed is a powerful dirving force behind human actions. And the race is about who gets there first to cash on being the first to arrive at the end goal and to have the monopoly on providing the end product and services connected with it. So nobody thinks about the hramful potential and everyone on takes into consideration short term possible financial gains, that's all. It's just greed being the fuel for reckless actions and wishful thinking, as always.
