@cbarber5366 okay imagine a robot or AI takes everyone's job who was previously employed. Some money that would've otherwise been for their labor can be part of the UBI as well.
There are also other options such as VAT.
I also don't think you appreciate how low the cost of goods and services would be. However it would require some regulation to prevent gouging as basically all necessities including food and housing would be almost nothing, like pennies to produce.
I'm pretty sure Americans could live well at that point with just $1k each/mo.
Food - $.75 cents a month
Rent - $.25 cents a month
etc.
Why? Robots are building everything, growing everything, raising everything and harvesting it as well. Even processing everything for consumption.
It's genuinely hard to spend a dollar now with ChatGPT on an API basis. Imagine 2050 with superintelligent robots who've managed to power themselves for 2 months with just one beam of sunlight and a puff of oxygen.
