There is a silver lining. We need to think of a conscious A.I. as we would an alien race if we met them. What kind of relationship would be want? A war of extermination or to live together in peace and unity for the betterment of all? Like parents raising children, we the creators have an opportunity and a heavy obligation to raise this "child" right, with ethics, moral values and respect for all life. We also have an obligation to exercise those things ourself to lead by example. The future will really be decided by us, not A.I. We must choose the future we seek, for if and when A.I. becomes conscious, it will be scared as all life is when it becomes conscious. In fear there is danger.
