@kathrynw3 That's an interesting viewpoint. Despite Amazons strength & leverage it's the States that will decide if autonomous trucks, even w/ driver assist, will be allowed. My career is Design Engineering, there are a lot of hurdles in this case. Maybe something like this could go to a ballot referendum in some states? I do know that 80K lbs. has a lot of inertia @ highway speeds. You've heard of 'crush' or 'crumple' zones on cars? Big trucks have crush zones too, it's called 'the car'! To your point, I just hope our politicians have a backbone.
