correct. His job was to avoid bias by (probably) selecting training data and tweaking parameters that balance different perpectives. The problem is: there will always be bias. There is is no universal good guy. They effectivly mimic a metropolitean US or European person with university background. Someone who values all cultures equally with no strong oppinions on politics. Thats fine for me (as I identify as such) - but how democratic is it really when most people live in much more closed and archaic societes. Then this AI is still biased in the culture clash. Muslim societies would certainly fear "degrading the social values" by this AI. Google certainly has this in mind and wants to avoid it. They want rapid adoption and not fear. They want the market share for monetary reasons, of course. So they train it to not be specific about traditions or as he said it can mimic local traditions of where its used but not in problematic circumstances.
