Exactly. The incentives are completely misaligned. Boards are chasing quarterly results, not long-term stability. They’ll talk about “AI transformation” like it’s a magic fix, but most of these layoffs are just cost-cutting wrapped in tech jargon. The irony is that the companies who hold onto their skilled teams during slowdowns usually perform better when the market rebounds.
