​@janelantestaverde2018 It's not like I've never made art, the difference is mine was never going to make money anyway - and was digital before AI art was a thing. Some hand drawn comics, a few emotional outlet scribbles on a low end Wacom, a fair number of flame fractals using Apophysis, mandelbrot variations made in Tierazon, terrain rendering using Terragen, and the least arty of them all - taking pretty screenshots in various games as my private form of photographic journal. My art is purely a casual hobby, and it is from that perspective I assess AI. Maybe it takes talent to feel threatened by a machine. In any case, my job (which is primarily around systems architecture) is also under threat, for the same reasons as artists. It's just a different set of models - Copilot primarily. It too takes years to become moderately competent in, it too requires creativity and problem solving. Artists work hard but so does everyone else in the end. Instead of poisoning it, I instead aim to learn how to use it to my advantage. Because that is, as far as I'm concerned, the correct way to approach something which multiplies your own ability. Only considering AI from the perspective of it's effect on art, is ignoring the bigger picture. Only considering it from the perspective of a threat instead of a tool, is plain bias. I will give, and it must be said, that the use of privately sold yet publicly displayed artwork in training data is most certainly unethical and that poisoning has some justification from that angle. But overall? I find this repugnance towards a tool quite confounding. I really need to cut down on the internet walls of text.
