I completely disagree. The pattern matching "reasoning AI" we have today is incredibly simple compared to what's needed for AGI. Almost none of the work done so far is even reusable for AGL design. AGL is so far out, we don't even have an idea on how to develop it and we likely won't see it in our lifetime, just like we won't see galaxy traveling spaceships or dyson spheres.
