@notstevebuscemi Self preservation may not necessarily imply consciousness. There could be other reasons why this behavior emerges from ai that has nothing to do with consciousness. Bacteria after all also protects itself, but we would not say it possesses consciousness. However, one could say from bacteria to "us" as biological complexity increases, it resulted in "us", then ai following a similar path could eventually lead to consciousness so its a possibility, but imo, we may not have the right recipe yet.
