That's because he's thinking about AGI, which is still very theoretical.
Personally I think AI is a misnomer and it would help ground people to refer to LLMs (Large Language Models) and ML (Machine Learning) instead.
I also think it helps to describe the current tools as language calculators. I don't think they're intelligent at all. People just conflate language with intelligence.
The reality is that LLM systems are already replacing jobs now. So the conversation most people care about is what to do about losing jobs in the present moment.
This guy is talking about AGI in the future, which is a way to not talk about the present.
