Definitely, but I would say it is negligent to not use the radar systems as well. The point of self-driving is to make the roads safe, maybe even crash free one day.
To achieve that goal I feel like we have to recognize that people will just not be paying attention sometimes, and that the self driving advertised as “Safer than every other car” needs to take more measures like the Lidar system.
