What doesn't help in discussing AI and art is all the misinformation out there about AI
LLM stands for large language model...not "just a -ism" fancy whatever
It is a neural network that makes predictions based on rules it discovered automously
And what the rules are is not clear...the interpertability problem is what leads to terms like "blackbox" "alignment problem" and "hallucination"
Human's cannot solve the problem of modeling langauge as efficiently or as effectively as a neural network that digitally simulates biology
Also Apple's paper was not well recieved bc it seemed like it was designed to produce a result
not measure the ability of an LLM to solve problems....bc many people were able to demonstrate that the models tested could one shot the solutions if prompted correctly...and most of the errors had more to do with context window limitations of the models...not the problem solving itself...so the real illusion was thinking that Apple's paper was honest...and not a marketing ploy bc they are well behind in AI at this point
Using an LLM for education is not an issue if the curriculum accounts for that use and makes it part of the process
It reminds me of how people used to say wikipedia was not a reliable source...but I would use it constantly bc wikipedia articles would provide sources that you could cite properly
