Right? You don't need to be smarter than a scientist to mimic one. Pseudo-scientists do this all the time and successfully fool people. When an LLM makes up case law it is not being smarter than a lawyer, it's improvising. When an AI can't restock a vending machine and attempts to call the FBI, it is not panicking or suffering. It's mimicking copypasta from viral karen meltdowns because that's what's in its dataset.
Like PCA it can appear like it's fresh and new ideas but it's really just an interpolation of existing data points. Don't confuse memorizing the answers to an IQ test with actual intelligence. This interview is so sensationalized.
