@tomfoster4199 I wouldn't say us artists tend to "overcharge" (in fact a lot really undercharge) it's just that as a profession it's got some of the worst hours in the world, there's a lot of time-based overhead and so we have to make sure that we're getting paid a decent amount per week. 60$/hr as a low rate sounds like a lot but most starting freelance commission artists will only get 3 hours of work on a good week. And that's not including the time spent talking with clients, which can be another 1-2 hours per commission that's not "counted" as paid work. Even if they were to charge less it doesn't really increase the amount of clients. Over time the hours can go up as an artist's popularity increases, but each client still has that overhead and so artists increase the prices to keep the amount of clients to a manageable level. Hopefully this clears some things up for you. I don't think most people who use AI as a primary were going to comm artists anyway, but I do know of some that are regular AI users and still buy the same amount of commissions haha. Point being, it's not really apparent that AI is a substitute for paying artists like some people have thought.
