"I didn't have the time and energy to go through all my notes" "I find editing much easier than writing from scratch" See, people like this tell on themselves. Using generated text stolen from writers who didn't consent to have their works scraped, just so you can get out of having to do the normal amount of work to do your own research/your own brainstorming/come up with your own concepts in your own words. You've taken out any need for your brain to do critical thinking and text analysis, let the collective do that task for you, and passed that work off as your own. The original writers who made this stolen tech possible were often tired, stressed, and having to squeeze in their craft between work and school, but they didn't have the benefit of generative AI to make shortcuts for them. We often didn't have the energy either, and of course editing is easier than writing from scratch. But we did it, because hard work and exercising your own voice IS the reward. Not cheating.
