I say as a developer, we are the first being laid off and automated out of work. Unfortunately since the industry operates on the idea of 'meritocracy' (as if silicon valley networks somehow don't matter, Har Har), and the idea of being a lone wolf, we don't have unions or worker support (and any efforts to do so are undermined or claimed that because we're 'in demand white collar knowledge workers' that we don't need it. Which is conveniently only to the benefit of these software companies. And unfortunately we are first, and then every other online work will go next.
