Same for me! I use it for my OC characters in the narrative story I make. I used to spend hours finding the right sort of look (aka just using other character art i found online and doing some photoshop edits.) I'm a very creative person, my degree is in film and I wanted to work as an editor. I don't work as an editor rn! It's always been difficult to make it even before AI. You either create art for the love of it, or be good / skilled enough to make money from it. Kinda why like ppl still will pay for OF even though there's plenty of free stuff out there. People will pay the things they value. The smartest artists are finding ways to incorporate Ai into their own and actually speed up their workflow. it's not going anywhere - like all else, it's adapt or get left behind.
