ChatGPT was trained on data from reddit and articles it links to. It literally is designed to mimic a generic American guy. This becomes painfully obvious, when you try to communicate to it in language that is less well represented on reddit. For example, in Slovak language, it can barely hold a coherent conversation. It just spits out either nonsense that stylistically resembles text from slovak wikipedia or nonsense you might expect to find in internet conspiracy theorist's / antiwaxer's / internet incel rant.
