@Celenduin Given the nature of the conversation, I would argue that handwaving the 'philosophical' aspects is just a cop out because if they did have to discuss that, it would undermine the catastrophizing. And they didn't even do a good job of the handwaving, not even by your metric. The way they described the processes of an AI (understanding what a patient is, what epinephrine is, what a dosage is) is just inaccurate. Not because we 'don't have better words for it' - it's just a flatly wrong description driven by the impulse to anthropomorphize these models.
The fact that they dismissed the philosophical arguments as 'not the point' isn't an excuse when a significant chunk of their discussion is about assumptions that rest on philosophical underpinnings.
It's like asking someone to come look at the new house you built, and when you point out that the foundation is crumbling they say 'Yeah, but I wanna talk about the HOUSE.'
