Only because the robot became a cheaper option. But as AI and AI-powered machines take over more jobs, it results in more people competing for the jobs that are left. This inherently drives down wages. It becomes exponentially harder to take over more human jobs because every step of the way inversely causes human labor to become cheaper.
What I'm saying is, they could build a perfectly automated cart pusher robot, but why would Walmart buy that when the job market is so bad they can easily find humans who will do it for bit of food, or store credit?
