The rate of improvement is not a scaling law as proposed in 2022. Improvements from that scaling law topped out in 2024.
The improvements in 2025 came primarily through systems engineering to compensate for LLM flaws, otherwise known as "Agentic AI". That's not about a chatbot "becoming conscious" or "achieving AGI", rather an unstated realisation that scaffolding is required to improve LLM reliability and usefulness.
The LLM weaknesses are still there, papered over with sophisticated error correction. A useful tool, yes, but not the magical tech we've been sold.
