LLMs determine their responses by a web of associations with numerical values. things the LLM learns are similar have a closer arbitrary numerical ID than things the LLM thinks are unrelated. for example, the phrases "nice work" and "good job" would likely have similar identifiers and be more likely to be used for the same situation given the same input. it determines whether to use "nice work" or "good job" based on what it predicts will give it the best path to its directive (answering your question) based on data it has about how the average user, and then you specifically respond to either phrase. it is not random nor is it similar to organic thought. it is a webcrawler designed only to crawl its own database of information. webcrawler is an old name for a web browser. its spicy google.
