@DollyAnna If you talk about environmental effects of AI, they are minute enough that they have a negligible effect on the environment. For example, AI contributes 0.8% to 1% of global carbon emissions, which is much lower than electricity and other industries. So, AI isn’t harming the environment as much as you are saying.
And you are saying real art isn’t theft, as if artists don’t learn from references. In the art community, it is very common to take a copyrighted artwork without consent and redraw it to learn art. If, for learning purposes, a human can use copyrighted material and it isn’t called theft, then a machine doing the same thing shouldn’t be called theft either.
As for the billions of dollars, I would say that we are talking about personal expenses for making AI art, not business expenses. On a personal level, AI art is generally much cheaper than traditional art because, to create AI art, you just need electricity and internet, which are relatively cheaper than buying dozens of sheets of paper to make dozens of artworks.
